Continue To Learn

It always surprises me at how fast time passes.  As I was writing this, I noticed that the last blog post I wrote was back in April of 2019.  I continuously preach consistency, but my podcast and blog posts escapes me.  I should mention that it isn’t lack of wanting to do it, but more so working on other business items. However; I have been spending a lot of time thinking about the importance of money.

Not about having money to purchase me stuff per se, but all of the great things we can do with it.  I am not sure if I have mentioned it but when I am able I am going to focus on building Temples for Buddha in Arizona.  We need a much stronger Buddha presence in Arizona.  I also think we need better transportation, such as a train system.  These are just some of the things that I think.  To progress the world forward, or at least the Great State of Arizona, I need more money.  Which is the reason I started 3T Fitness and Age of Radio.  I am also working on a Financial firm.  We had our first client, but the COVID-19 outbreak caused them to pull back on the book keeping services we were going to provide.

I have never liked the term Entrepreneur because everyone is an Entrepreneur these days.  It seems that anyone that doesn’t have a job is an Entrepreneur.  Since I started my businesses, many people have called me an Entrepreneur.  This got me thinking of the things that I enjoy in life, and how do I get people to refer to me as someone who has an understanding of these things.

If I could reverse time; I doubt that I would have studied Finance or Accounting. Coming from a poor family in Maryvale, my main goal was to make money. I spent it as fast as I could earn it.  If I could go back and do it all again I would have studied music. What I did find out about myself from college was that I really did enjoy learning. If I did go back to school I would have focused on a PhD in Musicology.  Without ever earning a PhD or degree in Musicology I can’t be considered a Doctor of Philosophy in Musicology.  There are some instances where this doesn’t apply.  For example, I will always be considered a Musician because I can play the Guitar.  I am a songwriter because I have written songs.  If we think of certain skills, then we don’t necessarily need a degree to be considered that thing.  For instance, something that I have always wanted to be is a computer programmer.  Once I learn a programming language, and can competently write a computer program, then I could be considered a computer programmer. What is confusing me, and what sparked me to write this, is how can we be considered something that doesn’t have a specific end skill associated with it.

My apologies if that doesn’t make sense.  It is difficult for me to express this specific thought in writing. This brings me to Taxonomy.  Taxonomy is a branch of biology that classifies everything. It was created by a Physician named Carl Linnaeus. He was also considered a botanist because he studied botany, and wrote many important publications related to botany. However; he didn’t get his degree in Botany. The point to my ramblings is that does studying something make you that or do you  have to publish something, and can you proclaim yourself an “ist.”

Here is what I think. I think that if you are able to publish something about the topic or teach the topic in the community then you are that ‘ist.”  I have been spending most of my free time outside working in the yard and with my tortoises. I would love when someone writes about me in the future I am referred to as a Herpatologist. I have also been interested in Horticulture, Ornithology, and Botany.

It is my wish, that as I grow older I can find a way to be remembered as either a lover or a contributor to these fields. I think it is important that each one of us find happiness in learning, and we find happiness in the the ideas and vocations that interested us as a child. As a young boy my main dream was to become a Zoologist, and then Music was added in my pre-teens, and then Psychology. Those were the three things interested me. My niece, Ariana  loves to draw. I tell her if that is where her happiness is then that is what she should study. Once she has that foundation she can get a Master’s in Business Administration. The reason being, so she can learn how Business works, so she can turn her passion into business.

Always keep learning! Enjoy.
