Fitness & Business

July of 2018 I started practicing with Steel Maces with the hope I could practice them in my backyard.  I started using them every day and it lead me to working with Kettlebells and eventually Indian Clubs.  I started training and practicing every day.  I started losing weight and feeling great as you would expect.  Around the same time I started writing a Business Plan for 3T Fitness.  We were in a position where we needed to get equity investors; or we wouldn’t be able to sustain or grow our new business model.  Once we found investors then we needed to start the process of putting all the pieces together.  Working with Wells Fargo as a Relationship Manager I would work 9 to 10 hours a day and then focus on 3T Fitness.  I lost the momentum of working out, and as you can guess the weight started coming back on.  It became more difficult handling the stress of my career as a banker, trying to make 3T Fitness operate efficiently, and growing my business Age of Radio.  Everything in my life started becoming more difficult.

About a month ago, I decided that my personal brand needed some refining.  Exercising became sporadic over the last 6 months.  Since I own one of the fastest growing fitness companies, I thought it would benefit me if I finally get my crap together and become a fitness expert.  What that means, I am not completely sure.  However; the best place to start was to get moving.  But as the past few weeks have gone by have been thinking, how can exercise be important for busines? How can it be important for Family Governance?  Well, I gave it some thought and this is what I have found

1. Reduce Stress

Physical activity reduces stress hormones, and it pumps up your endorphins.  Endorphins make you feel amazing. It is a high in its own right.  Reducing the stress can help a lot as an entrepreneur.  Entrepreneurs have a lot on their plate. They have a lot of roles within the company.  With a lot roles come responsibility and more workload.  Being better able to manage that stress will help with their ability to make decisions.

2. Increase Creativity

When you are working out you have the time for introspection.  With that introspection, come creativity. Also, exercise increases blood flow to the brain which increases cognitive function.  An increase in cognitive function will help with problem solving and brain storming.  This is great for entrepreneurship.

3. Goal Setting

Working out usually has goal setting in it. Whether you are trying to drop weight, drop body fat percentage, increase weight, increase muscle mass, run longer, punch harder, jump higher…the list could go on forever. It is all about reaching goals. That reaching those goals can boost your confidence, and make you amazing at goal setting. Running a business or building your career is all about goal setting.

4. Improve Energy Function

Most people start the morning with a cup of Joe. This need will slowly decrease as you continue to work out every day. You won’t need caffeine, you will sleep better at night, and have less fatigue.

5. Pushing Yourself Futher

When you are working out and achieving goals you continue to push yourself.  Pushing yourself increases your determination.  I like to refer to this as Grit.  Grit is so important for business owners and teaching entrepreneurship to second and third generations.  It is what helps you keep going.  It helps when you fail, because you will fail, and grit is what keeps you going.  Exercise and setting goals can help improve that grit.

There are probably many more benefits to working out, but these are some of the ones that I have experienced.  Building an empire is a lot of work.  Make sure to set time aside every day to set fitness goals.  Shape the Universe!
